Built about the 1940's, was owned and operated by local merchant that had managed it and lost it due to health and personal reasons. Has a balcony with about 120 seats. No equipment on permise…Was abandoned for about 10 years…fell into tax problems…taken over by the county…was autioned out but never sold…years later… 1999 or 2000 it was donated to our Ministry…started remodeling, with new electrical box…water main tap…plumbing to city codes….funding is our main hold up…and looking for options…. for more information…inquire at: E.M.A. POB 502 Eloy, AZ 85231 OR E-MAIL: pazman@cybertrails.com

Was this theater also known as the Dustbowl Theater or was that another theater in Eloy? Here is an April 12, 2007 article that mentions the Dustbowl Theater.

Yes, this is the Dustbowl theatre. Eloy only had one theatre besides the "Y" drive in.

The Eloy Theatre is listed in the 1941 and 1943 editions of Film Daily Yearbook with a seating capacity of 300. It is the only theatre in town.

However, listed in the 1950 edition of F.D.Y. is the Dust Bowl Theatre with 675 seats and the Eloy Theatre with 400 seats.

Listed as the Dustbowl in the 1963 IMPA. Operator was Louis F. Long Enterprises.

Should there be an aka name of Dustbowl Theater or was the Dustbowl Theater a different theater?

posted by Lost Memory on Feb 26, 2008 at 7:14pm
I think it was the same theater, should be an aka.
