The architect of the Vermont Theater was E.J. Borgmeyer. The owner of the building was Mr. Joseph Engert. The cost of construction for the project, including two stores, five office suites, and the theater with pipe organ was set at $100,000. The brick building was 65x170 feet.

I didn't see any trace of this theater when I drove by there today. The west side of the Vermont block between 43rd and Vernon is a parking lot with a supermarket and adjoining stores.

This is an unidentified theater in Los Angeles, circa 1950. The audience is integrated. Perhaps someone might recognize the distinctive patterns on the walls.

I remember the Vermont Theater very well. During the mid to late 1960's, while attending 59th Street Elementary, and Horace Mann Jr. High School, my brothers (Ed and Printle) and I used to visit the Vermont Theater quite often. I can remember one year at halloween watching some horror movies at the Vermont. We made sure to catch the early show so we wouldn't get spooked walking home in the dark. The Vermont was a fun place to visit, leaving a lot of good fun memories. It's ture, there is no trace of the Theater today, it would be nice if someone could post a photo of the Vermont Theater on this site. Thank you very much.

Is there a listing on CT for a Vermont Theater at 1417 West 24th Street? There's and ad for this theater under Moving Picture Theaters of Los Angeles from the LA Times for March 9, 1914.

I don't see it listed. If there is a theater on here with that address, it is missing the aka name of Vermont. I think the 1417 West 24th Street theater predates this Vermont Theater.

This is the only one I know about in that area:

Also, could anyone tell me if this theater was built and the name if so?

Back in the 50s, there was a small and ordinary theater on Vermont around 90th which I attended and "Thought" was also called the Vermont. Looking at Google Street-View, I see a small Church which appears to be a former theater listed at 9115 S. Vermont. It fits. Wonder if anyone knows anything about it ? Is that location listed under some other name ?

9115 S. Vermont was the Manchester Bowling Academy before it was a church. Advertised in the LA Times from 1942 to about 1964.
