I passed by this theatre last year while in Morro Bay. I know NOTHING about it except that it has one screen and it is currently playing either second-run or art-type movies. There is NO information available online except showtimes. Does anyone know anything about this theatre?

I found out a little more info about this place. It shows first run movies at very affordable prices. For instance, the week of 5/23, Troy is playing and all seats for all shows are $5! Unfortunately, the recording at 805-772-2444 gives no info about the theatre itself other than the location. I still can't find any pictures of the place online. Anybody out there with more details?

I had the opportunity to catch a film at this theatre over the weekend and it was a very enjoyable experience. The seats are super comfortable and the interior vaguely reminded me of a church. Though the films screened are of the mass released variety the fact this little gem of a theatre has been able to keep going speaks well of the Morro Bay community.

The Bay Theatre opened in 1942. It has been remodeled and updated recently. The nearest other theatres to Morro Bay are 13 miles away so it's managed to remain open.

This is a nice little town, known for its very large rock in the ocean. I spent some time here in the 80s, but I don't recall seeing the theater then. Here is a 2004 photo:
