This Bridgeport neighborhood theater opened in 1910, located on 35th Street, near the intersection of Archer and Damen Avenues. The Archer was one of the many theaters of the South Side's Schoenstadt circuit.

The Archer closed in 1950. The building currently houses a restaurant and grocery supply business.

The earliest references I can find to the Archer in the Tribune are in January 1914. I do see a Grand Theater at 35th and Archer in 1912.

An article in the Chicago Tribune, dated May 20, 1917 says that the Archer, along with the Boulevard and Halfield Theatres, all Schoenstadt movie houses, are being leased by Mrs. Leonore Van Ronkel (the headline reads "WOMAN LEASES THREE SOUTH SIDE THEATERS"). The Archer and Boulevard Theatres are being leased for ten years, while the Halfield is being leased for five years. The Archer Theatre Building is listed as containing two stores in addition to the theater itself.

This was in Mc Kinley Park, not Bridgeport. Bridgeport is east of Ashland and this is on Damen.
