The Newton Theatre opened May 15, 1924, with 1,000 seats. In 2002, a 2/9 Robert-Morton pipe organ was installed, as the original one was long gone. Built for the small town of Newton, this now-twinned theatre showed films until it closed on 21st October 2007.
Renovations were carried out and the Newton Theatre was reopened on May 16, 2008 screening first run and classic movies. Sadly in was closed by Majestic-Star Entertainment in September 2010. Purchased by new owners in spring of 2011, it was restored back to its single screen configuration, and re-opened as a performing arts center on September 9, 2011 with a performance by Todd Rundgren. In 2015 it was equipped with a digital projector, and movies returned in July 2015.

Ur Welcome….will recent movies be shown at this theater, and how much will it cost for concerts, events, and movies?
Just saw a concert by Graham Parker and the Rumour on friday night. It was awesome!!! The acoustics of this theater were ok but not as good as say radio city or other big venues. Seating is improved inside the theater and it was crowded.

Thankfully it’s back. Prices are very reasonable.
This is a very fine Theatre. Wonderful live ax. Excellent acoustics and sightlines. Great that they’re still doing movies in between the live shows too. Get to the theater and try one of the good restaurants in Newton New Jersey
