Renovations were carried out and the Newton Theatre was reopened on May 16, 2008 screening first run and classic movies. Sadly in was closed by Majestic-Star Entertainment in September 2010. Purchased by new owners in spring of 2011, it was restored back to its single screen configuration, and re-opened as a performing arts center on September 9, 2011 with a performance by Todd Rundgren. In 2015 it was equipped with a digital projector, and movies are planned to be screened from June 2015.
