The Catherine, designed by C. Howard Crane, opened in 1913. Its address was listed variously as 1540 or 1700 Chene Street. Three years later, in a very early example of twinning a theater, the Catherine was split into two auditoriums by George D. Hurlburt. In 1937, the theater was renamed the Carver, and closed in 1949.
