How did they get the letters on and off that tall marquee?
The marquee was very tall, but just right for US 285, where it was pointed. The developers wisely kept the signage, but replaced it with an ad for the condos that replaced the Cinderella, as you can see in this Google Street View.
They used to have an area with kiddie rides next to the concession stand. It was there when I first started going, probably around 1998, but soon stopped, citing insurance. I always had a good time at the Cinderella. RIP indeed.
I found a nice video from 2009:

The condos are called Avana on the Platte townhouses.
the cinderella twin opened on 7/13/73. i am currently putting together a series of books on the history of the denver area drive-ins and indoor theatres. if anyone has questions on the subject, please feel free to contact me at . i’ll be happy to share my research with you. i am also doing booking histories on the denver area’s 17 drive-ins and selected indoor theatres. see you at the movies ! sincerely – kenneth mitchell
FYI The Avana Apartments are now at 3400 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80110. No longer in Englewood per Google Maps.
update to my 2/10/19 post —– after the cinderella drive-in announced its opening on 7/13/73, an ad was run 7/15 stating that the drive-in was “not completed yet” ! on 7/18/73, the cinderella was officially open for business. kenneth mitchell
When the Cinderella Twin quietly opened on Wed., July 18, 1973, its opening programs were “Pete and Tillie” with Carol Burnett and “Joe Kidd” with Clint Eastwood on Screen One, and “Showdown” with Rock Hudson and “Winning” with Paul Newman on Screen Two.
I’ve put together a booking history for the Cinderella Twin drive-in, from 1973 up to 1978 so far, along with ads, photos and other information – in case anyone would like to know when a particular movie played there. I’m always happy to share my research with interested people. Take care – Ken Mitchell ()
Grand opening ad posted from the 13th. They lied.
