Lakeshore Drive-In

The Lakeshore Drive-In was located in Liverpool, NY. It opened on April 27, 1957 with Audie Murphy in “Walk the Proud Land” & Victor Mature in “Zarak”. It was closed in 1989, Loews Theatres operated it for its last season. It had a capacity for 600 cars. When it closed, the site was cleared for a shopping center, which uses the drive-in’s marquee to advertise the stores.
After closing, the Lakeshore’s long-unused speakers and in-car heaters were moved to the Loews Airport Drive-in (Johnson City, NY) for storage, the Airport didn’t use them either, they had AM Radio sound at the time.

The Lakeshore was one of three (3) drive-ins in the Syracuse NY area owned and operated by the Slotnick family. The other two drive-ins were the DeWitt and the North. The Slotnicks started building hamburger stands under the Carrolls banner and subsequently became Carrolls Development Corp.
