The Warwick Theatre opened in 1919 and was remodeled in 1949 to the plans of architect Chester Browne. This family-owned neighborhood second-run theater operated for over eight decades before suddenly and unexpectedly closing its doors in November, 1999. Its owner, Thomas McNulty, found himself increasingly unable to compete with large chains and multiplexes.
The Warwick Theatre’s last few days of operation were devoted to the Boston Jewish Film Festival. It was turned into a gymnastics center for the local YMCA. It was demolished in 2011.

Does the YMCA still actively use this building today?
Yes, but they are actively raising funds to build a new facility on Leggs Hill Road.
The Warwick Theatre was remodeled in 1949, as reported in Boxoffice, March 5. Chester Browne of W. Chester Browne Associates was the architect for the project. Robert McNulty was the owner/operator of the house.
The Warwick is listed in the 1927 Film Daily Yearbook with 650 seats and open 6 days/week.
Is the YMCA still using this building? If not, what is there now?

A new small cinema has been proposed that would occupy part of the footprint of this now-demolished theater: View aticle
I saw that article earlier today. I knew that the theater was going to be demolished, but I was a bit shock to read that the demolition took place last year! I tried googling the demolition to see if there were any photos or even any mention of it taking place it with no luck.
Some good news. I heard from a relative in Marblehead that the Warwick is back. It re-opened as a cinema/restaurant, same location but new building. Article here with a virtual tour of new facility.
