Built in the late 1980’s as part of the then-ambitious Spring Valley Marketplace complex, it was a pretty good theater, showing popular first-run movies, however there was a problem with the clientele that it attracted, as less than savory or well-behaved gangs of youths frequented it, hassling patrons and interrupting shows. I saw “True Lies” there in 1994 and was treated to a few late arriving, noisy groups interrupting the movie.

Financially they just couldn’t make the high rent after the Loews Palisades opened and the space has been gutted and replaced by a Christmas Tree Shops location.

This theatre featured 11 screens, not six.

I worked here shortly after it opened. My car was vandalized on a couple of occasions, but the scariest time was when Geraldo Rivera came in to see The Last Emperor wearing a spandex biking outfit.
