The Electric Theater was another short lived silent theater that opened in 1911 and closed in 1914. The Aardvark bookstore operated inside the former Electric Theater for over 40 years, closing on January 25, 2019.

The bookstore has been there for many years and is a great place for browsing. I had no idea this was a theater at one time, but it makes sense. It’s a great space. Thanks for posting this one.

There was another Electric Theatre in San Francisco on Market Street. I don’t know if it’s still there or not. The last time I saw it was in the 1980s.

What was the Electric on Market St, is now an “adult” emporium.

And that “adult” emporium (as mentioned by jackieboy) is called the Crazy Horse (see elsewhere in Cinema Treasures).

The book store that occupies the space is closing tonight after 40+ years in business… and I never knew it was a theatre until I read the article.
