Viewing: Photo | Street View

The Montana Theatre was built in 1936. The seating configuration is a long narrow layout with a regular raked floor in the front 2/3 of the auditorium, with stadium-style seating in the back. The walls are covered in cloth tapestries which are all original, along with many of the lighting fixtures in the auditorium and lobby.

My great-grandfather Herman Knutson built the Montana and his wife, Sue ran it. There was a neat little apartment over the theater where she lived. There was doorway from the apartment into the upper part of the theater. There was a little room in the basement that was sort of jazzed up as a bar.

Here is an interesting photo. Did you notice that Bus Beals is selling insurance in his little office in every photo from 1980 to today? Talk about a good run.
