Not a nice looking theatre that yells “this is a showplace"could be an insurance office.

The other Scott Theatre that Ken Roe mentioned on 10/21/05 became the Rio Theatre (oen of three Rio Theatres in Odessa as mentioned on another page by Billy Holcomb).

Picture of the Scott sign taken 2/28/08.

I was driving through and it is quite a striking sight.

I believe the Scott 1-2-3 can be glimpsed briefly in the film version of ‘Friday Night Lights’.

The author Billy Holcomb has a book available about the theaters of Odessa, TX. The CoC might have copies.

There was another Scott Theatre that was open from the late 1940’s. It was located at 609 N. Grant Street, Odessa, TX and had a seating capacity of 909.

This is what I read on another website about this Scott Theater:

“This theater was originally a single screen but the balcony was split up into 2 smaller theaters in the 70’s. The Scott closed in the early 80’s and according to the real estate agent selling it, no projection equipment is left inside. I asked the agent to show me the inside, back in 2000 but he did not have the keys. A Church group was renting the theater in the early-mid 90’s”.
