Luna Theater

Viewing: Photo | Street View

The Luna Theater which was located in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, opened in 1914 as the Auditore Maurice Theater. At some point in the 1910’s the name was changed to the Luna Theater. This theater closed in 1952.

The building became roofless and derelict, and was demolished in the late-2000’s.

As viewed in June 2006, the building has not quite been demolished, although derelict would be a correct description. The four walls still stand (including a modified facade), but there is no roof on the building.

Two photographs I took in June 2006 of the remains of the derelict Luna Theater:

Looks like it’s gone by the time the Googlemobile passed it by.
