Originally known as Hazle Hall and located on the northwest corner of Broad Street and Wyoming Street. The hall was originally used as a meeting place for community meetings, dances, political rallies and some high school graduations. It became a vaudeville house known as the Family Theater when a new stage and balcony were constructed in 1905.
In 1915, the Family Theater switched to an all film presentation and became a popular movie house with children and families due to it’s low admission price and special promotions.
The Family Theater continued it’s operations until its closure in 1955. The building was razed in 1962 to make way for a bank expansion. A health club now exists on the site.
