Averitt Center for the Arts

Viewing: Photo | Street View

The information I found on the Georgia Theater comes from the Statesboro library. The Georgia Theater was built on East Main Street in 1936 by Hal Macon, Sr. as a motion picture theater. The Art Deco style building was designed by Savannah architect, Cletus W. Bergen and featured air conditioning, and a coffee shop in the lobby. The Georgia Theater closed in the 1970’s.

Since September 2004, it has operated as a performing arts centre for the Emma Kelly theatre group.
