Seth, I agree with you about the remodel, especially after seeing the pics of the original look. I know when I went by to photograph it I was somewhat underwhelmed but at least it was still operating.

Since this listing is very uninformative, here’s a little history from the theater’s web page. The theater opened October 1, 1936. It was the successor to three previous theaters at other locations, and there had been an Isis since 1913. The current Isis was purpose-built as a theater. I’m not sure when it got that amazingly ugly remodel.

The Isis recently upgraded to digital 3D with a new screen and new projector. The prices remain low, and the old-fashioned charm of the place is still there even if the technology is better. A great place to see a first-run movie.
