The June 15, 1940, issue of Boxoffice said that the new State in Logansport had opened on June 8. It was operated by the Alliance Theatre Corporation, also operators of the Roxy and Paramount at Logansport.
A photo of the auditorium of the State Theatre illustrated an advertisement for American Avion Theatre Chairs in the August 17, 1940, issue of Boxoffice. There were 1074 seats in the State. The architect of the theater was Irving M. Karlin, Chicago.
A 1937 Logansport Pharos-Tribune also lists a ROXY, a LOGAN and a PARAMOUNT theatre there.

The State Theatre has two screens. Films are shown once nightly Monday thru Thursday with two shows on Friday, Matinee and two evening shows on Saturday, Matinee on Sunday and one show in the evening. The owners also own the Skyline Drive-In that is open in late spring thru the end of summer.

Anyone know how many screens this theater has? The style should be Art Moderne. Here is some history that I found on this theater:
“This building has offered entertainment to the Logansport community since about 1941, when it opened under the management of Herbert Sullivan. Sullivan also managed the competing Logansport theaters, the Roxy and the Paramount. At that time, the building shed its former use as a retail establishment, having earlier housed the well-known Seybold Dry Goods and the John H. Etnire & Sons Furniture Company for many years. The building facade was likely updated with its current Art Moderne style between 1935 and 1941 and is an outstanding example of this style in Logansport. The smooth finish, metal panel facade, corrugated stainless steel ticket booth, glass block window and horizontal, streamlined look are all typical of the style. The stair-stepped parapets are reminiscent of the closely related Art Deco style”.
