Here is some information that I found.

East Tennessee History of Regal:

Mike Campbell’s first venture into the theatre business was in 1982 when he reopened an older single screen theatre in New Tazewell, Tennessee. Campbell and his partners invested $3,500 to lease and operate the Star Theatre. Their first film was E.T. and seeing the crowds lined up around the block encouraged him to pursue this hobby as a career.

From that first theatre, the company called Premiere Cinemas expanded with a new three-screen in Middlesboro, Kentucky. It’s at this time that Campbell chose to leave White Stores Incorporated after 11 years of service so he could concentrate on the theatre business. Over a seven year period Premiere grew to 150 screens in small towns across the Southeast until it was sold to Cinemark for $21-million in 1989.

After the sale of Premiere, Campbell started Regal Cinemas by purchasing a two-screen theatre in Titusville, Florida. Over the years Regal has grown by building new theatres, expanding existing properties and merging or acquiring dozens of other theatre circuits. In 2002 Regal merged with United Artists Theatres and Edwards Theatres to create Regal Entertainment Group.

The Star Theater is listed in 1955 with 350 seats.
