Built in 1910, the 2,600 seat Brady Theater has mainly been used as a performing arts venue, but during the 1950’s big roadshow pictures were shown there, and new wave and experimental films found a home on the Brady screen during the “free spirited” 1970’s.
An interesting note; when the lush Akdar Theater opened in 1922 everyone thought the Brady Theater was doomed. Wrecking balls brought down the Akdar in 1964, while today the “Old Lady of Brady” still presents the best of live entertainment to Tulsans.
