The La Mirada Movies 7 was opened by the Krikorian Premiere Theatres chain circa 1992. Located on the end of a large strip mall, the structure is L shaped; lobby in line with the other storefronts and theatres running behind the mall. Typical of Krikorian’s unorthodox approach, the complex features numerous abnormalities, such as auditorium three, which houses a movie palace sized screen in a relatively shallow theatre (resulting in problematic picture quality).
Movies 7, along with Krikorian’s pre-stadium chain, was sold to Regal in 1996 and eventually closed in 2002. After sitting vacant for two years, the theatre was partially renovated and reopened by Interstate Theatres (now Starplex Cinemas) as a discount house.

This was one of several similarly built theatres by Krikorian. They also had the same design at their:
Diamond Bar 8
El Cajon 8
Del Rosa (San Bernadino) 8
Whitwood 10
All these theatres were sold to Regal, and all have since been closed by Regal. Only this one is still showing movies.
Here is a January 2007 ad from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune:

Are you going to post 2009 ads next?
Does anyone remember anything about the triplex that was in the old La Mirada Mall? When it opened? What chain ran it?
I like the older ads Myself when a manager locked himself in an office and went to work creating usually an ad not seen anywhere else if he was a great theatre manager.
Does anyone know the size(s) of the screens here? I go here often but want to know for comparison purposes. I know the one (#1? – whichever they show the popular ones in) is on par with average first-run theaters.
