Ban on X-Rated Films Is Ended in Clinton; Leader of Campaign Brandt Official Replies.

NY Times June 10, 1973

CLINTON TOWNSHIP"The figures do not stand up—exactly as I predicted. With these type of pictures we have not been able to draw the people". So said Lee Fromato, vice president of Brandt Theaters, as he explained to the residents of Clinton Township that their eight week moratorium on X-rated films had failed to bring in a sufficient gross to eliminate such movies from the 428 seat Clinton Point Theater. Mr. Fromato said that the dormant policy of showing sex films and nonpornographic films on alternating weeks would be reinstituted. He explained that the X-rated films made up the difference the Brandt Corporation needed to “survive” at the Clinton Point.

This theater was run by Tri-County theaters along with the Barn in Frenchtown and the Hunterdon in Flemington. The Clinton Point building was demolished and a bank built in its place on pretty much the same location on the lot.
