Savoy Theater

Opened as the Savoy Theater in 1914 with seating listed at 680. The advertising when the Savoy opened read, “Best selected 3 reel films, Illustrated songs, High class shows, Bring the family”. Mr. John Trulock owned the Savoy. It was noted that the Savoy was the seventh motion picture theatre to open in Indianapolis. The Savoy had a name change to the Oliver Theater in 1935, but in the late 40’s it reverted back to the Savoy. The theater closed in 1955.
