Here’s a 1942 trade article describing the State Theatre: boxofficemagazine
this place was great. went to a couple ‘planetOfTheApes’ marathons here, as a kid. jamb packed with hundreds of screaming, bawling kids throwing all manner of food at each other. now that, my friends, is entertainment.

Jan.1 1975 “SOUND OF MUSIC” returns with ADULT ticket prices set at $2.00 a seat.Three shows daily.

well, it was on GOOGLE! 1978 called “BLOODSTALKERS” Plot like Deliverance,but that is all.
Yeah,you wonder where it is at today.Had to be a very low budget movie,Maybe I will Google it.they have every blasted Movie made.
Never heard of that classic movie.
Oct 15 1973 Now playing at The State, “GODSPELL”
May 3 1975 an “WHAT’S UP DOC” is playing.
Jan 2 1977 and some cheap Drive-in feature is playing called “THE NIGHT DANIEL DIED” the tag line was “in the tradition of ‘Deliverance’”.Ever hear of it guys?I never put it on a marquee.
Opened in 1945 – closed in 1985 as a movie theatre. It was operated by Martin Theatres from 1965 thru 1985. Seating was listed at 771.
