I stand corrected. What a couple of us remembered was the plan to twin it – a plan that never materialized. The same could be said of Showcase West’s goal of installing stadium seating, which never happened.

The Crest was never twinned. Management had planned to twin it before it closed in 1989, but didn’t.

I’ll defer to you on this, Ed. The last thing I can find is a screening of “She’s Out of Control” in May 1989. Is it possible that it closed and was reopened as a twin without being listed?
The Crest definitely was twinned, 71Dude. Someone who worked for Associated, Cinemette and Cinema World is searching for a date of the twinning. But it did happen some years before the closing.
The theater was never twinned.
The Crest definitely started as a late-run single-screen 600-seater opened and operated by Associated Theatres. If memory serves, it was twinned several years before it closed. The structure is still there, but it’s being used as retail space within a strip mall.
Does anyone know what is in the theater’s former locale?
I think this theater had only 1 screen.
