You guys are GREAT ! You finally found the Minerva ! This is fascinating ! I live on 22nd Street, but used to live on Seventh between 20th & 21st. If it closed in ‘40, I never saw it open, as I was born in '43. Everytime I pass by I look at it and, seeing how the neighborhood has become so hot recently, I think: imagine how well a cozy little neighborhood theater would do now !

The first c/o that I have found for this address is dated May of 1927. It was an existing building. There is a 414 seat moving picture theater located here. Difficult to read the names so the spelling might be wrong. The owners last name was Schwartz and the architects were Berlinger and Kaufman (spelling?). The following year in June of 1928, the owner is Armory Photo Play Corp. Alteration architect was Philip Gottlieb. Alterations done were “replacing chairs”. The seating is now 389. In October of 1931 another alteration was done. The alteration was “rear expansion”. There is a different owner again but I can’t make out the name. In December of 1935 the seating was increased to 426 seats.
