While visiting Caliente several years ago, I noted that the theatre was being prepared for hosting a “Halloween Spook Night.”
In 1981, the Rex was part of the Hawk Circuit, a two theater chain. The other house was the Gem in Panguitch, UT. President was H.F. Hawk.
According to this link, the Rex closed in 1976. “The last film screened at Caliente’s Rex Theatre, closed in 1976, was When Legends Die; the letters hang askew on the ruined marquee, and two cowboys stand together in the box-office shadows”.
