the 1982 photo does not seem to be the Rio Theatre that was in the opening credits sequence of the movie “Midnight Cowboy”. Jon Voight walks right past it within the first 2 minutes of the film. It has a different marquee sign. Note that it appears to be the jumbled title of the movie “The Alamo” with John Wayne. check it out.

Another theatre site claims this theatre to be the State Theatare and has several photos (7). Can anyone clarify that this is the Rio Theatre.

In 1950 the Rio Theater had 650 seats.

I’m not sure if this building is still standing. This is a 2005 photo of the former Rio theater.
