Name was derived from a combination of operators August Braums and Thomas Dawe Martin. For many years this was under the banner of the Thomas Theatre Group which purchased or operated more than a dozen theatres in Michigan. Was Braums a silent partner?

The Braumart was modernized in 1935 and twinned in 1982.

There are about a dozen pictures of the Braumart on the Iron Mountain-Dickinson County Genealogical Society site.

A section of this PDF from the Dickinson County Genealogical Society says that the Braumart Theatre opened on April 21, 1925. A.E. Brauns was the owner of the theater and Thomas Martin the manager for the Colonial Theatre Group, which then also operated the Colonial and Bijou theaters in Iron Mountain and four theaters in Fond du Lac.
