Opened in 1917 as the Port’s Opera House by Mr. Dixon. In 1919 it became the Royal Theatre. Sound was installed in the Royal in 1929. The theatre was purchased by R.C. Max during 1941. Sometime in 1951 it was renamed the Max Theatre. During the Farm Crisis in 1987 the prices for admission was .99. The theatre went through a remodel sometime during 1995 and a second screen was added along with other amneities.
