The Gem Theater was advertised in the Kinmundy Express in 1912. The ad reads as follows:
“April 11, 1912: Advertisement: Gem Theatre. The Gem Theatre is now under new management and we will strive to please all by giving Good Shows Every Night. 3000 Feet of High Class Pictures. Illustrated – Special Music. We invite you to come and get your money’s worth. Big Shows every night, beginning promptly at 7:30. Admission 5 and 10 cents. Gem Theatre”.

This is part of an obit in the Kinmundy Express dated Jan. 8, 1914:
“Emmit Hargrave-Emmit and his family moved from the farm to this city about a year ago, and after residing here for a short time he purchased the Gem Theatre, which he has conducted successfully and profitably. He has always tried to please his patrons and has given them the best obtainable”.
The Gem Theater is still around in 1924. Kinmundy Express dated Jan. 10, 1924:
“A Klu Klux Klan meeting will be held on Jan. 11 at the Gem Theatre. A prominent speaker of Atlanta, Georgia will give a Klu Klux Klan lecture. Everyone over 18 years of age is invited and the lecture is free”.
Kinmundy Express dated Dec. 13, 1928:
“The Gem Theatre was purchased from Mrs. Myrtle SCHOOLEY by Carl DUNLAP. Carl has been an operator for the past few years”.
