The Lyric was one of several movie theatres in downtown Gastonia. It was open during the golden age of movies in the 30’s and 40’s.

A Wurlitzer theater organ opus 1368 style “B” special was installed in the Lyric Theater on 6/20/1926.

In 1940 the Lyric had 620 seats.

In the Google picture that comes up on the overview tab, rotate the picture to look south. The Lyric was in the building to the right of the blue Smith’s Drug building.As of 4-16-2013, the building is still standing.
