An article about the conversion to a restaurant/music hall can be read here.
Please see the photo I added. It is from a newspaper article. I will add more photo’s as i can when they open.
The Isis is being reopened as a concert restaurant venue. They have installed a beautiful marquee and a duplicate of the original sign that reads Isis. Will upload a photo as soon as I can.
From Joe’s article that would make the theatre opening in December, 1937. The Isis closed in Feb. 1961.
Boxoffice said, in its January 8, 1938, issue: “Asheville’s new $50,000 theatre, the Isis, held its formal opening December 27. The theatre was built by the Publix-Bamford Theatres and has a seating capacity of 555.”
Interesting that they would be showing movies that were almost one year old in a new theater.
The Isis was opened in January 1938 by Publix Theaters.
Here is a new link for the 1937 photo.
This is a circa 1937 photo of the Isis Theater.
