While the first movie theater in Iowa Falls had opened in 1907 (the Bijou, later renamed the Lyric), the first to be built specifically as a movie theater was the Rex at 615 Washington Avenue in 1914. It continued in operation until 1954.

In the place of the theatre there is a little park like plaza that leads to rear parking for main street shops.
