When they twinned they really ruined it .Surprized it hasn’t been tripled since it is thirty miles from Augusta. I do hear they have a lot of trouble there. And THomson is a small town,Admission is pretty cheap so I guess that encourages the low life to show up. I have Friends there that will not go there,It is a pity.

One of the good things about the past was managers that could actually call a booker and book a feature.the Martin Theatre in Thomson,Georgia had a TARZAN SPECTACULAR on Sept. 7, 1961. The Three movies were:
“TARZAN"S GREAT ADVENTURE”

“TARZAN AND THE SHE DEVIL”

and “TARZAN’S HIDDEN JUNGLE” They were played on a saturday when many small town theatres would book such features, while mom shopped.

I read where Thomson had a classic car day there with classic cars line down main street in front of the Theatre. A smart theatre manager would have had a tie in ,and show a classic movie with a car as the main story line, but no they were playing regular features. No one thinks of promotions much any more.

No dates, but these two movies are playing. “TRAINING DAY” and “GLITTER”. They don’t believe in putting one sheets out.Looking at the picture i took it looks closed from the road.

What few times i drive by the Martin it use to bug me in one one sheet frame they have written in marker all Seats $5.00. I think a one sheet from the movie playing should be in that frame.Even though today’s one sheets are smaller than what we use to get. Tacky.

The Martin Theatre chain was located in Columbus.Ga. Home of the horrible CAR-MIKE CINEMAS. IN 1956, MARTIN THEATRES had theatres in Georgia close to 20 cities with several screens in some of these towns. They had theatres in Alabama and Florida.
