The Wayne Theater was operating prior to 1941, and continued until at least 1950.
It was completely renovated in 2009, and was set to reopen in November 2009.

Wayne Theater: Monticello, Kentucky
Historic Preservation students gained field experience in performing documentation and conditions assessment reports for the Wayne Theater building in downtown Monticello. The current owner, the Monticello Banking and Trust Co., brought CHAP in to evaluate the building, which the bank plans to renovate and turn back into an auditorium for both the bank’s own private use, as well as use by the community at large. It is hoped the curtain will soon rise again on this venerable old structure! Source.
