Community Drive-In

The Community Drive-In was located near the small town of Mascot in eastern Knox County, Tennessee outside of Knoxville. When I first drove by it in 1972, it had obviously been closed for some time, but the name on the marquee was still legible, and I believe the screen was still standing. I believe it was located on Rutledge Pike (Highway 11W).

Though it has been many years since I drove by the site, I believe the highway was widened and/or rerouted, and pretty much obliterated what was left of the drive-in. One source says the drive in was opened from 1955 until 1975, but it was definitely closed in 1972.

The Community Drive-In is listed in the 1975 IMPA with a capacity for 200 cars.

Approx. location for this drive-in was just south of 9616 Rutledge Pike.
