AMC Classic Granite Run 8

The AMC Granite Run 8 is west of Philadelphia in the suburb of Delaware County. It is located at the Route 1 side of the Granite Run Mall, just south of Media. The auditoriums are not stadium seated, but do have digital sound. In 1997, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the theatre had a seating capacity for 1,991.

In 2014, it was announced that the mall would be demolished with new retail space replacing it, and a new multiplex replacing this one. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was announced in November 2020 that the closure would be permanent.

Was this theater a bargain cinema in the mid-1990s? I’m certain I’ve been there a few times, but I might be mixing it up with another theater.

The whole Granite Run mall is being demolished? It as a great mall. I went to the theater twice, once in 1991 to see The Prince Of Tides and in 2007 to see Harry Potter. It was always a great neighborhood.
