The Strand Theatre is one of the oldest operating movie theatres in Vermont, opening in 1919. In 1941 it is listed as the Strand Theatre, but the name had been changed to Playhouse by 1943.

The Playhouse, formally the Strand, is Vermont’s oldest purpose built movie theatre circa 1919.
