This independently owned drive-in was first opened in 1958 near the upstate New York resort area of Lake George. It currently features two screens and parking for 800 cars and its season runs from April or May until the Labor Day weekend in September.

Each screen runs a double bill of first run films with reasonable admission prices of $7 per adult and $3 for children aged three to eleven (babies up to age two get in for free). Films are scheduled nightly, Friday thru Thursday during the season.

The Glen Twin Drive-In features both FM radio transmission and old-fashioned wired speakers for its audio presentation. Business is still going quite strong for both screens, with sell-outs not an uncommon occurence.

I discovered this drive-in while attending a family reunion this past weekend in Lake George, NY. Driving along Route 9, I passed the roadside marquee, which currently reads “SEE YOU IN ‘08” for the off-season. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera on me to snap a photo.

This website, however, features a few recent images of the Glen Twin. Also, if you click on the “map” link at the top of this page and select a “Satellite” view, you’ll get a decent overhead image of the two outdoor theatres with which you can zoom in and out. I don’t know if this was originally built as a twin, but one of the screens has a notably larger lot than the other.

The name of the theatre obviously refers to the area of Glens Falls, NY, but the address seems to map as Queensbury, NY.

Just to be on the safe side, Cinematour has two listings for this drive-in. One for Glens Falls and one for Queensbury. Notice that the phone number is the same for both listings. When in doubt, list both locations. LOL

Click on the Google map. Remove the address “975 Route 9” and replace it with “Glen Drive-In”. Google maps will return:

Google gives a Glens Falls location but I don’t think the correct address is given. I don’t see the drive-in when I switch to satellite view with the Ridge Street address. Anyway, This is an August 2007 night view of the Glen Drive-In.
