The Empress Theater opened on March 18, 1915 with Mary Pickford in “Such a Little Queen”. It had seating for nearly 1,000, with the balcony having 330 seats. It was refurbished and reopened on January 5, 1934 screening El Brendel in “Olsen’s Big Moment”. It was still open in 1957. The building became a beauty salon. In 2016 it was a health food store and café.
