The Dalmuir Picture House opened in January of 1916. The name was changed to Regal Cinema in 1930. It had seating for 777 in the stalls, 352 in the balcony and a 40 feet wide proscenium opening. Most of its life it was operated as an independent cinema, but from 1956 it was taken over by the George Green circuit.

It was closed in September 1966 and became a Roadrunner motorcycle and car spares shop until 1984 and then a Nordic Home Improvement Centre (DIY shop) until it was demolished in 1991.

It was opened by William Beresford Inglis, who tended to design his own cinemas – certainly it resembles strongly another cinema of his in Glasgow. Later alterations circa 1930, possibly for sound, are attributed to John Fairweather.
