The Capitol Theatre opened in the late 1940’s and was designed in an Art Deco Style by famed theatre architect John J. Zink. It closed in the 1960’s and has now been converted into office space.

Any further information would be appreciated.

This is an August 2008 photo. The address on the front of the building reads 201 West Street.

The address in the header for the Capitol is wrong, that is the address for the former Republic AKA Playhouse Theatre. The Capitol was on West Street and the address that LM gives on 8/13/08 is the correct address. (201 West Street)

This is a link to the Playhouse/Republic that isn’t listed on CT as for as I can see anyway.

The Playhouse/Republic has been closed and demolished for many years now. It’s last use was for live theatre. It was demolished sometime in the late 1980’s. The address for the Playhouse/Republic was 187-89 Main St. It was located 3 blocks from the Harbour.
