The Virgin Cinemas opened on 26th November 1999 and was the last cinema to be built by the Virgin Group. Almost immediately after opening it was operated by UGC and re-branded.

Since 2005, it has now been re-branded Cineworld, and is one of the venues used during the Edinburgh Film Festival. The regular auditoriums have a total seating capacity of 3,022, with the largest screen having 527 seats, down to the smallest screen seating 88. In addition, the cinema also contains a 250 seat 3D-IWERKS auditiorium.
