Strand

The Strand Cinema opened on 22nd June 1935. Seating was provided in a stadium style, with a raised stepped section at the rear, and no overhanging balcony. In the 1940’s it was taken over by the Palace and Derby Castle Co. Ltd.

It was closed in 1971 when the screen was vandalised. It was then converted into shops and a motor museum, which had closed by 2018.

There is no longer a motor museum here although local businesses say the owner still keeps his cars there.
