The Murdo Theater opened in around 1940 and closed in the 1970’s.

Since 2005, a local youth group have been raising money to help get the theater open again. The building is owned by the First Fidelity Bank.

It is planned to have it re-opened late-2008, digital projection will be used. When open, the theater will be re-named Magic City Movie Theater, after this was selected in a naming competition.
