As nearly as I can piece this together, a theater called the Chime (singular) was open from at least 1916-18 at 4116 Penn Avenue.

Inexplicably, a Chimes (plural) Theatre operated from 1919-20 at 7114 Penn Avenue. (The address admittedly resembles a typographical error of the first one.)

Another Chimes (plural again) appeared at the original 4116 Penn Avenue site from 1920-39, which included a segue into the talkie era.

It’s possible that the owner shifted to a site 30 blocks east during a period of a year or two while the original site was refurbished. Might there have been a fire at 4116 in 1918?

Many of the silent screen houses were neighborhood shoeboxes that seemed to have opened and closed with rapidity in Pittsburgh. It’s difficult to find reliable information.
