Originally built as Elvins Coach Works, it became a cinema from 1914 and was named the Cinema. Later converted into a swimming pool, by 1937 it was operating as a cinema again, known as the Swimming Pool Cinema with 385 seats.
The Swimming Pool Cinema closed in 1955 and the building became the Memorial Hall, offering a programme of amateur stage productions. Seating is now provided for 240 in the stalls and 126 in the balcony.
