Located in the Peel Centre, the 6-screen Cannon multiplex was a project of Cineplex Odeon and opened on 14th December 1990. It was soon re-named MGM. In July 1995 it became the Virgin and in October 1999 it was re-branded UGC. In November 2005 it was re-branded Cineworld.

Seating capacities in the screens range from 362, down to 234. It was closed on 5th December 2013, when Cineworld relocated to a new building in Gloucester Quays outlet centre, across from the Peel Centre, which opened on 6th December 2013 as a 10-screen cinema.

This cinema has now re-located to the Gloucester Quays shopping complex opposite the Peel Centre.

The new 10 screen cinema opened in 2014.

The old site (as pictured) is closed up, referring visitors to go to the new site across the road. Rumors have it that there are plans to convert the building into more shops, possibly a Ikea.
